Mindful of the fragile Arctic environment, Greenlandic and Danish partners are leading an effort to transition the telescopes power supply from diesel generators to green energy. The team is looking into wind as well as solar power as well as the possibility of using batteries for power storage. In all likelihood, the solution will be hybrid, in which the diesel generators, which must be retained at the GLT site for safety reasons, will supplement the green energy sources when needed.
